L2 repair fluency through the lenses of L1 repair fluency, cognitive fluency, and language anxiety
In this article, we combine the three work packages of the FDF2 project to examine L2 repair fluency from the perspectives of L1 repair fluency, cognitive fluency, and language anxiety. We analyzed L1 Finnish and L2 English monologue speech tasks, Stroop tasks in the L1 and L2, and questionnaire data for general and task-specific language anxiety from 59 advanced users of English. The results demonstrated weak correlations between L1 and L2 repair fluency measures, while task-specific language anxiety and certain Stroop measures were connected with L2 repair measures. The study was funded by the Research Council of Finland.
